Food combining is a major passion of mine.  I’ve been into it for about 16 year and it all started after I read the book Fit for Life (which is an awesome book if you haven’t had a chance to read it!)

I used to think that food combining was a hard and fast rule, no wiggle room, no flexibility. However, now I see it as more of a general guide.  Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a really bright idea to follow – it’s helpful to your digestion system.  Also, if one has any degenerative disease / diabetes, impaired insulin function or digestive issues it’s for sure best to food combine as well as possible.

It’s a great tool to help you get the most bang for your buck nutrition-wise, but I definitely use it more as just that –  a tool, not a rule.
Some of the classic food combining rules are:
1. Fat combines best with greens and non starchy vegetables
2. Fat combines fair with acid fruit (tomato, lemon, pineapple etc)
3. Do not combine fat with sweet fruit.
4. Do not combine more than 1 type of fat at a time
