RAW FOOD CHEF
As long as I can remember I have LOVED making food for myself and others.
Perhaps it fulfills a need to connect and nourish myself, and others, with love and eye-rolling enjoyment. Perhaps it comes from a need to express my intuitive culinary creativity, or perhaps simply because I love food! As a teen I often made food for my friends and family, in fact, I often found myself as the group’s chef when traveling or living with friends. As time went on I found yoga, which led me to the concept of karma and the wider implications that our food choices have on our physical, mental, and spiritual health, not to mention the environment, as well as on the innocent animals themselves. Growing with such information I couldn’t help but move toward plant-based, and later a high raw vegan diet.
Cheffing was such a passion that in 2002 I started researching vegan cooking schools which at the time was beyond slim pickings. Put off by the cooking schools’ requirements for one to use, make, and sample animal-based “foods” that I wouldn’t eat myself, I instead chose to focus on my other passion, Nutrition. After searching my options I chose to enroll in CSNN – The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition; to deepen my nutritional knowledge and holistic approach. Halfway through my schooling in 2004, I met long-term raw vegan educator Dr. Douglas Graham and wholeheartedly, and with a major satori moment/heart opening, adopted the raw vegan lifestyle.
After 5 years of thriving on a raw vegan lifestyle, learning and applying all that I could, I started up my website and wrote my first recipe book “101 Frickin Rawsome Recipes” which was made up of all of my favorite recipes over the years! It was an instant hit! Between my passion for a simple raw food diet, my naturally intuitive culinary gifts and some great timing with Youtube and the internet, my recipe book and consulting practice spread far and wide. This in turn led me to be invited to be the Head Chef, as well as a speaker and yoga teacher of the Woodstock Fruit Festival!
I have such gratitude for Yuliya and Mike from WFF for giving me such an amazing opportunity which has opened so many doors and helped me grow as a raw food chef as well as a speaker, raw food lifestyle coach, and yoga teacher, ever-honing and growing with my passions and purpose.
TYPES OF RAW FOOD CUISINE
HYGIENIC LOW FAT RAW VEGAN RECIPES
These recipes are the backbone of what I would consider the healthiest possible raw food lifestyle, and what I recommend others base their diet on and move towards. In short, recipes that would easily be found in the garden of Eden. These recipes, as featured in “101 Frickin Rawsome Recipes“ and “50 more Frickin Rawsome Recipes” range from simple fruit smoothies, green smoothies, and fruit soups, to tasty salads, stews, noodle dishes, and more. They are all 80/10/10 friendly, utilize perfect food combining, are made from 1-5 simple whole food ingredients that you can find anywhere, and are free of any processed, stimulating, or enervating substances, spices, or oils.
LOW FAT RAW GOURMET RECIPES
After 5 years of eating whole fresh ripe raw fruits and vegetables/hygienic low-fat raw recipes, and through seeing the stark contrast between them and the high-fat raw vegan cuisine becoming popular in the mainstream raw movement and in restaurants, I felt a need to experiment with and create low-fat raw vegan gourmet cuisine. Designed with food combining and optimal digestion in mind while also aiming to mimic old favorite foods, ethnicities, and flavors, I launched “TRA Retreat Treats” which also became an instant classic! From there I also created other favorites such as “Simply Delicious American Classics” (co-written with Dr. Douglas Graham of the 80/10/10 diet), as well as “Naturally Rawsome Dressings“. These low-fat raw gourmet recipes are great for special occasions, to serve with others who are not raw vegan, or when you simply want something a little fancier!
