The Best of Chris Kendall Skateboarding

From the thrill and challenge of learning and landing new tricks to the camaraderie in the streets and at the park, skateboarding has never just been a sport to me. It is a lifestyle that teaches resilience, self expression, and community. It may sound cheesy, but the life lessons, friendships, and family I have gained through skating have shaped who I am, and I am deeply grateful for every moment on my board.

Skateboarding has been my biggest and longest-running passion. At age five, it was all I wanted to do, at 13, I could not imagine anything else, and by 17, I was traveling and living my life solely for skateboarding, friends, and fun. Like many skaters, I was also introduced to partying, late nights, and eating poorly. That lifestyle eventually caught up to me, leading to sluggish recovery, severe candida, and undiagnosed depression.

That desire to feel better and recover faster is what first led me into yoga and nutrition. I wanted to heal my body, clear my mind, and bring back the joy that skateboarding had always given me. Yoga helped me reconnect with balance and awareness, and diving into yoga philosophy opened my eyes to deeper concepts like karma and conscious living. That naturally led me toward studying nutrition and taking a closer look at what I was putting into my body.

At 19, I became deeply passionate about yoga and began refining my diet and lifestyle. I started out vegetarian, then moved toward a whole food vegetarian approach, gradually adding more and more fresh fruits and vegetables. By 23, I was studying to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) and had gone high raw vegan. Just six months later, after meeting Dr. Douglas Graham, I was inspired to go 100 percent raw overnight — a decision that completely transformed my health, mindset, and life.

Going raw was truly life-changing. It gave me more energy, mental clarity, and balance than I ever imagined possible. It actually surpassed my passion for skateboarding in many ways, as I truly felt and still feel that I found my life’s calling, to share, show, and help people become as healthy and vibrant as possible through a well-rounded, holistic, compassionate raw vegan lifestyle. These days, skating and the skateboarding community are still at the center of my life, but it feels more like a way to reach people, have fun, and create real connections rather than my main reason for being.

Even after my motorcycle accident in 2018, skateboarding remains one of my greatest passions. It has been tougher since then, but I am steady with my rehab, time in the gym, and commitment to living and eating well. This helps me feel my best, push my limits, and have as much fun as humanly possible.

I hope you enjoy this early compilation, The Best of Chris Kendall Skateboarding, featuring my favorite footage from around 1998 to 2009, pulled together from various skate parts over the years. This video celebrates the creativity, freedom, and pure love for skating that has fueled my life since childhood.

To more and more and more, this holistic raw food lifestyle has me feeling better in my 40s than I did in my early 20s. Honestly, in so many ways it feels like I am a teen again, just with a little extra wear and tear. I hope this inspires you to keep pushing, whether it is on a skateboard or in your favorite sport or passion.
