The Stinkiest Fruits Meet Body Art
For over ten years, I’ve been nurturing a peculiar dream: to get my armpits tattooed with the world’s two stinkiest fruits. Yes, you read that right! I’m talking about the king of all fruits, Durian and Noni! Both of these notorious tropical delicacies are known for their pungent aromas and divisive flavors. Why, you ask? Well, why I LOVE them Both and think they Smell AMAZING, and Well… Why not? As someone deeply passionate about both fruit and tattoos, this seemed like the perfect way to combine my interests in a truly unforgettable way. Plus, let’s face it – it’s a great conversation starter!
The Artist Behind the Madness
To bring this fruity vision to life, I turned to the incredibly talented Pat Burke, aka @horinawa of ROP Tattoo West, aka @roptattoowest of roptattoo.com. Pat’s been my go-to artist for years, having inked my first tattoo at 16 in 1996, naughty naughty, and around 90 hours total since then! His skill, patience, and ability to handle my unique requests, such as my past taint / perineum tattoo made him the perfect choice for this aromatic armpit tattoos endeavor.
The Tattooing Process
Getting your armpits tattooed isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a sensitive area, to say the least, But with Pat’s expertise and my determination (and perhaps a dash of madness), we made it happen. The result? Two beautifully detailed, stunningly realistic depictions of durian and noni, one nestled in each armpit. Now, I will admit for the first time in my Tattoo journey, I used a numbing cream called Dr. Numb, and it helped a lot, but this was still in my top 3 most painful tattoos I have ever got, and I was ready to be finished by the end.
More Than Just a Tattoo
This isn’t just about getting a quirky tattoo. It’s about embracing life’s little absurdities, celebrating the things we love (even if they’re a bit smelly), and not being afraid to express ourselves in unconventional ways. It’s a reminder that life is too short to take ourselves too seriously.
