Living Like a Model on Raw Food With Alie Addison

What does it actually look like to thrive on the 80/10/10 lifestyle… and what does a “model diet” really mean?

Living like a model on raw food is probably not what most people picture. No starvation, no stimulants, no obsessing over the scale. The real version looks more like watermelon for breakfast, a 15kg case of oranges in the kitchen, and a conversation about fruit, community, and what it genuinely means to feel your best.

That is exactly what happened when Alie Addison over at @Alieombaba on IG and YT and I sat down for a live chat dubbed, Living Like a Model on Raw Food, as part of the Ultimate Raw Vegan Bundle collaboration.

Raw Vegan Perimenopause

We covered a lot of ground, from the origin of The Model Diet and the 80/10/10 Diet Masterclass with Dr. Douglas Graham, to eating raw through winter, true hunger, emotional eating, and why the raw food community is genuinely one of the most supportive spaces out there.

So What Does “The Model Diet” Actually Mean?

One of the first things Alie asked me about was the book itself. She noticed the title and wanted to know… is this actually for models?

Short answer: no. Well, not specifically or exclusively.

The title comes from three separate angles. First, nature’s model through comparative anatomy and physiology, looking at what our bodies are actually designed to eat based on the evidence. Second, the model as in the ideal template, the closest we can get to optimal human nutrition. Third, the fact that following this way of eating tends to produce a vibrant, vital, genuinely healthy, attractive appearance, which is the kind of look that models spend enormous amounts of money and energy chasing through far less nourishing means.

There is something a little bit of a thirst trap about the image and title, I will be honest about that. But the substance behind it is very real. Living like a model on raw food means being so well nourished that your energy, your skin, your digestion, and your mental clarity all reflect it. That is what the book is really about.

How the 80/10/10 Masterclass Came Together

I have wanted to build something substantial with Dr. Douglas Graham for years. This year, with the bundle, the timing finally aligned.

What started as a plan for a compact mini course turned into something we are both incredibly proud of. Seven or eight calls, each running two to four hours, 25 hours of raw footage edited down to 17.5 hours of content across five modules. Each module has action steps, handouts, and yes, some gamification built in through the Xperiencify platform so the learning actually sticks.

Dr. Graham’s 80/10/10 Diet is often called the bible of the raw food movement for good reason. He has probably created more leaders in this community than anyone alive. Getting to build this course alongside him, with that depth and scope, is something I genuinely did not take lightly. If you have ever wanted to go deeper than the book and really understand the application of 80/10/10, this is it.

Both resources are included in the Ultimate Raw Vegan Bundle, alongside Alie’s Joyful Smoothies guide and 30+ other Brand New contributions from this community. The bundle is available until midnight Pacific time May 11th.

Fruit, Sugar, and Why None of It Is a Problem

We got into the classic fruit sugar question early, because of course we did.

Here is the thing. Every cell in the body runs primarily on simple sugars. We are designed with a sweet tooth for a reason. When you are eating a lower fat diet, that draw to sweetness gets even more pronounced, because it is supposed to. Fat impairs insulin function and dims the signal. Remove the excess fat and the body can actually use glucose the way it is meant to.

Fruit is the most nourishing food on the planet when you look at the full picture. Vitamins, minerals, hydration, digestibility, caloric density that is actually workable… fruit hits all of it. You can eat until you are genuinely satisfied, feel great, digest well, and actually enjoy every bite. That is living like a model on raw food in the most practical sense possible.

Raw Food in Winter, True Hunger, and the Mindset Shift

Alie is based in Tennessee and navigating her second trimester, so the conversation naturally went toward the harder parts of the lifestyle, winter variety, cravings, eating enough, and what to do when the food feels repetitive or uninspiring.

My honest take: I do not find winter harder than summer, even in Canada or Sweden. What makes the difference is two things.

First, knowing what is available and working with it. Bananas, dates, persimmons in season, pears, whatever is ripest and most accessible. Smoothies with a date or two, some greens or blueberries added in, and most of the “quality” concern melts away.

Second, and more importantly, shifting focus. When the food is not at its peak, that is actually a signal to pour more attention into the other pillars: movement, connection, rest, sun, relationship. Food is nourishment so that you can do everything else in life. It is not the center. When we hyperfocus on what the food is not, we make the whole experience harder than it needs to be.

We also talked about true hunger, something I go deep on in The Model Diet and link out to fully on the site. The core idea is that hangry, anxious, urgently craving feelings are not hunger. They are the body processing waste. If you can learn to recognise that, take a breath, go for a walk, have some water, let it move through, you come out the other side in a calm state where the choices you make are genuinely nourishing ones. That shift alone, applied consistently, changes everything.

About Alie and Her Contribution to the Bundle

Alie is a genuinely warm, real, and funny person who is navigating pregnancy while building her raw food community and putting her first book into the world. I have a lot of respect for that.

Her contribution to the Ultimate Raw Vegan Bundle is Joyful Smoothies, a guide built for real life. Simple, low ingredient recipes that work even on the busiest days, smoothies that keep you satisfied for hours or work as a quick snack, and plenty of options for people who are always on the go. Regular price $20, and it comes bundled with everything else as part of the full package.

You can follow her and check out her content on IG at @Alieombaba and YT at @Alieombaba

Living Like a Model on Raw Food Is More Available Than Ever

One thing that came up near the end of our conversation was this idea that people romanticize the past, imagining that some ancestral jungle life gave us access to perfect abundant fruit all the time. The reality is we actually have it better now than at any point in human history. More variety, more year-round availability, more knowledge about how to do this well.

Living like a model on raw food does not require a tropical address or a perfect produce market. It requires the right information, a supportive community, and the willingness to keep showing up. That is what the bundle is designed to give you.

Over 30+ raw vegan resources worth over $1,500 all for just $50 until midnight Pacific time on May 11th.
