Riceless raw vegan rice paper wraps with Daniel Mckinnon @enzyme.333
Unveiling Daniel Enzyme’s Riceless Raw Vegan Rice Paper Wraps – A Nutrient-Packed Game Changer!
I’m super stoked to share this unique recipe from my friend Daniel, aka @enzyme.333. If you’re into light, nutrient-rich meals with that classic, beautiful, translucent presentation, you’ll love this one. Dan has been at the forefront of raw food innovation for years, and this creation really shows off his creativity and mastery.
Why You’ll Love These Wraps
These riceless wraps are a raw, vegan-friendly twist on traditional rice wraps, made using two super ingredients: sea moss and aloe vera gel. Both are practically tasteless, making them perfect for wraps, but they’re loaded with incredible benefits. This recipe is also collagen-boosting, which means it’s as good for your skin as it is for your taste buds. Plus, these wraps are naturally clear, so they showcase the vibrant colors of your fillings—talk about beautiful, nutritious, and delicious!

The Ingredients That Make It Happen
Sea Moss: This amazing sea vegetable is rich in essential minerals, including iodine, potassium, and magnesium. It’s a known collagen booster, which can help improve skin elasticity and hydration. Sea moss has been used for centuries, especially in the Caribbean, for its health benefits. You can get different types, including golden sea moss, purple sea moss, and traditional Irish moss, each offering its own set of nutrients. Not all sea moss is created equal, so be sure to grab high-quality, sustainably harvested options. You can find Dan’s favorite sea moss here or a wider variety including the one I use from SeaVeg.com.
Aloe Vera Gel: Aloe is often used in skin care for its soothing properties, but it’s also great for internal use. When ingested, it can aid digestion and support gut health. The gel has little to no flavor, so it’s perfect to blend into wraps. To remove any bitterness, just soak the aloe gel in water, and that slight bitterness will dissolve away.
Riceless Sea Moss & Aloe Vera Wrap Recipe
Ingredients:
- 70g sea moss (prepared and soaked)
- 50g aloe vera gel (peeled and soaked to remove bitterness)
- Water (just enough to blend smoothly)
Directions:
- Prepare the Sea Moss: Rinse the sea moss thoroughly, then soak it in clean water for at least 4-6 hours. It will expand and soften. Once soaked, rinse again and measure out 70g for the recipe.
- Prep the Aloe Vera: Peel the aloe vera to get the clear gel inside. Soak it in water for about 15-30 minutes to remove any bitter flavor. Measure out 50g of gel.
- Blend: Add the sea moss and aloe gel to your blender (I love using my Vitamix) and pour in water until it covers the ingredients. Blend until completely smooth and gel-like.
- Dehydrate: Pour the blended mixture onto non-stick dehydrator sheets, spreading it out evenly; watch the video for a great tip on this. Dehydrate at 95°F (35°C) until it forms a flexible wrap. This usually takes around 12-18 hours, depending on the thickness and your dehydrator’s settings but you can’t really over do it.
- Store: Once dehydrated, the wraps can be stored in a cool, dry place for up to a few months. Spritz with water to soften before filling and rolling.
Get Creative with Fillings
These wraps are super versatile! Dan suggests filling them with anything colorful and nutrient-packed. Think marinated veggies, bell peppers, purple cabbage, fresh herbs, kelp noodles, or even sprouted black rice. You can make your own raw, vegan dipping sauces to pair with them—something tangy, spicy, or creamy would be perfect. Check out Dan’s eBook, Edible Art, for more inspiration and for the “Hoisin” sauce he made for us to dip them in!
Why Sea Moss & Aloe Are a Dynamic Duo
Both of these ingredients bring something unique to the table. Sea moss provides trace minerals that may not be found in ideal quantities in most commercial produce, making it a great addition to your diet for overall health. It has up to 90 of the 102 minerals your body needs! Aloe, on the other hand, is naturally hydrating and soothing to the digestive tract and is often used to improve gut health and skin. Combining these two ingredients creates a super-smooth, nutrient-dense wrap that holds together beautifully, is easy to work with, and brings a unique translucent look. Plus, coupled with fresh, crispy, high water-content veggies, it makes an incredibly hydrating, light, refreshing meal.
