Water Fasting day 4!

Smooth sailing into day 4 of my water fast at the farm of life!

I hope you enjoy it!

Day four was a nice gentle rainy day on the farm. I got a great chance to sleep in again helping to “Recharge my Batteries”. A very cool way to look at it and one I wish to share with you today.

Allot of people consider food energy, or equate energy with food saying, I ate this and got so so much energy. This perspective and assumption is partial true, but not all that accurate. My favorite way it has been explained is by Dr Douglas Graham, Author of “the 80/10/10 diet” which you can pick up right Here, Highly recommended BTW.

Simplified.. Just like a car we need both fuel as well as energy, this can be equated to the Battery in a car, for us Nerve energy, and gas in a car, for us food. Just like a car we need “a Charged Battery” in order to function well, the Fuel doesn’t make a difference if the Battery is dead, or our nerve energy is low. The only way to increase nerve energy, or charge our battery, is though sleep, the only way! Getting adequate sleep and then fuelling ourselves with sufficient carbohydrates are two pillars of health. I would go deeper but Doug hit it so perfectly in this article here on his awesome site.

Oh my btw My new Peacelovenseasonalfruit shirts are Ready and Available!!!, only mentioning as I mentioned it in the video blog, and I am a shameless self promoter! ahaha!! 🙂

Fasting has been done by both humans and and animals since the dawn of time for first survival, as well as physical emotional and especially spiritual reasons. Many of the most noted Spiritual masters, such as Jesus, Mohammed, Buddah, Moses, Elijah among others have fasted many 40 days and 40 nights. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, supported fasting, Plato and Aristotle, respected philosophers, practiced it.

Spiritually, fasting helps us see our addiction and attachment to food allowing us to then transcend it. The mind gets clearer, all the senses are heightened as spiritual awareness deepens.  Freed from having to satisfy physical hunger, one can then turn one’s attention to feeding the mind and spirit through contemplation meditation and spiritual regeneration.  Spiritual masters like Pythagoras wouldn’t admit any disciple into their higher teachings unless they had first purified themselves through fasting often for 40 days!

A simple fast doesn’t need exceed more than a day or two in length and is indicated when one feels indigestion, lack of appetite, being under the weather, grumpy moody or out of sorts.  This 24 hour fast may be done by taking a simple raw dinner and waiting to eat until dinner the next day. In its simplest form a short fast consists merely of skipping a meal  by doing so one can give the digestive system a quick rest functioning as a quick “reset”.

I am not a condoner in weekly nor monthly fasts, rather fasting based upon clear indicators and then only as much as necessary.

“Everyone has a physician inside him or her; we just have to help it in its work.  The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well.  Our food should be our medicine.  Our medicine should be our food.  But to eat when you are sick is to feed your sickness.”
Hippocrates

“Fasting must be recognized as a fundamental and radical process that is older than any other mode of caring for the sick organism, for it is employed on the plane of instinct and has been employed since life was first introduced upon the earth. Fasting is nature’s own method of ridding the body of ‘diseased tissues,’ excess nutriment and accumulations of waste and toxins.”
-Herbert M. Shelton (DC, ND) The Science and Fine Art of Fasting

“I often observe in the fasting participants that by four days of fasting, concentration seems to improve, creative thinking expands, depression lifts, insomnia stops, anxieties fade, the mind becomes more tranquil and a natural joy begins to appear. It is my hypothesis that when the physical toxins are cleared from the brain cells, mind-brain function automatically and significantly improves and spiritual capacities expands.”

-Gabriel Cousins M.D. Founder Tree Of Life Rejuvination Center

“I fast for greater physical and mental efficiency”
-Plato

“When you fast, the Light will illuminate you and spread on earth.”

-Mahatma Gandhi

“She or he who does good of her or his own accord shall be rewarded, but to fast is better for you, if you but knew it.”

-Mohammed, 570?-632 A.D.

“Fasting is a normal part of our walk with God as is exemplified by our lord Jesus. Immediately following the Lords prayer, he said: Moreover when ye fast, be not of sad countenance, that thou appear not unto man to fast, but unto thy Father, which is in secret, and thy Father shall reward thee openly.”

-Mathew 6:16-18

“When you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that you do not appear to others to be fasting, but to your Father, who is in the secret place; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly.”

-Jesus Christ, 8-4 B.C.-29? A.D. (The Bible has 74 references to fasting)
