Skincare, Sunburn & Conscious Living | Skin Cancer Prevention & Natural Wellness with Chris Kendall
Blessed to bring you a super real conversation about what it means to keep your skin healthy and live consciously under the sun. Not long ago, Kiko (who you absolutely should follow if you don’t already) invited me on her channel to go deep on skincare, sunburns, staying raw long-term, and, yeah… even the tough stuff like skin cancer. If you want the straight goods on this lifestyle, no sugar-coating, just practical tips and my own experience, watch and read on.
About This Collab with Kiko
Bless to be a small part of Kiko’s journey, another long-term raw foodie, from Japan, who has been sharing more and more since being a part of our last Ultimate Raw Vegan Bundle! This is my third interview with her; you can check the first out here on her Raw Journey and book Namado, and this one, where she invited me on to talk about “The Fat Myth”, be sure to hit her up at her website or @namadokiko, it is always an honor.
This episode on Skincare, Sunburn & Conscious Living with focus on Skin Cancer Prevention & Natural Wellness is loaded with years of hard-won stories and honest lessons about what works and what doesn’t. We both get vulnerable, because let’s face it, this lifestyle isn’t all perfect fruit bowls every day.
What We Dive Into
- My true minimalist approach to skincare (hint: often just water… no fancy stuff needed most days!)
- Why I love Morocco Method for natural shampoo and skincare (with an exclusive 25% off code “banana”) if you’re curious, click here and save!
- How I really handle sun exposure: covering up, mindful timing, and using good zinc-based sunscreen when needed
- The real dance between raw and cooked foods, how to navigate it in your relationships and everyday life
- The HUGE importance of community, connection, and having a crew to lean on
And, for those interested in some of the tougher chapters, check out my deeper dives here to see what basal cell carcinoma looked like for me, how I approached healing (including Efudix cream), and why I think open, honest conversation about these journeys matter.

These go even deeper into my experience with skin cancer and real-world healing.
Skincare & Sun Tips For Real Life
- Don’t buy the “invincible raw vegan” myth, sunburn still happens, and it adds up
- Build up sun exposure slowly and be smart about peak UV hours
- Coconut oil, aloe, and simple raw-friendly products can soothe and provide 2-4 spf, but aren’t a magic SPF shield
- Physical cover (hats, rash guards, shade) is your best friend when you’re out for a while, especially in peak uv hours
- Morocco Method shampoo/bar and their Zen facial cream are my faves, again, grab them with my code “banana” for 25% off here: Morocco Method
Raw Food Helps, But It’s Not a Force Field
Eating a clean, hydrating, mostly raw diet makes a huge difference for skin health and healing, no question. But after 21 years living this way and still having squamous and basal cell carcinomas, I can safely say: sometimes being raw just isn’t enough to stop sun damage if you overdo it (especially if, like me, you spent your first decades burning in the sun, I have BADLY burnt myself dozens of times).
Sun Smart = Self Love (and Long-Game Living)
No shame in needing sun protection or having a unique skin routine. Cover up when you can, use natural sunscreen when you can’t, stay hydrated, and listen to your skin. If you want pure, raw, vegan quality for your skin/hair routine, don’t sleep on Morocco Method—25% off with “banana” through my link here!
